Swimwear From Oz

Thank you to Pia and Pia Lane in Brisbane for doing my hair!!

My lovely date John Carter

Sophie (my roommie) and me

It’s been a week since trials, and I’m resting and recovering my system. I wanted to send out a diary re-cap of how the meet went for those who don’t have Fox, and therefore couldn’t watch the swimming. The meet itself was a bit disappointing for me, but in every cloud there is a silver lining, and I maintain my positive attitude. Onwards to Beijing; the preparation began the moment the trials ended!!

The swimmer of the year function following the meet was excellent, and had a fun James Bond theme to it. Everyone looked stunning, and it was a great way to wind down the competition.

Thank you for all your support!

Dec 9/10:

I raced my 50 this past weekend. Although I got up mentally as much as possible, and gave it everything I had, the results was a little off what I'd hoped for. I ended up placing 6th, and enjoying the experience, but finished with a time a fair ways away from qualifying for World Championships! I am hopefully to have earned a spot on the World University Games team going to Thailand in August, but won't know that until May.

As always at the end of the season, whether it was a greatly successful one or slightly less than successful, it's time to hit the drawing board and prepare for the season to come. So now my focus is to buckle down and plan, be introspective, be truly honest with myself about how things have gone, and figure out how to get back to where I'm capable of being (and beyond!!)

There is always inner success when we've given it everything we have.

Dec 7:

I raced in 100 freestyle today and swam it solidly. I can pull heaps of positives out of the swim! I finished in a 57.8, which is a solid time for me in the heats. I took it out with a strong, long stroke, and it felt great. My main focus in the race was 1) to hold my stroke in length and be technically good, and 2) to give it a good go and wake my system up so it is ready to race the 50 on the weekend. I achieved both of my goals well, and now get to rest up for the next day and a half in preparation to the important splash and dash on Saturday/Sunday!!!

Here is a excellent quotation my partner shared with me yesterday:

"If you limit your choices only to what seems reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is compromise"
